Distance Runners Compete at Two Bay Area Meets

UC Riverside sends distance crew up to Northern California
STANFORD, Calif. - UC Riverside competed at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 4 and 5 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- Ashraf Abdelmagid (29:23.26) and Andrew Castellon (29:32.06) grabbed top 10 finishes in the men's 10k on Friday at Stanford, while Joy Weber clocked in with a 35:48.45 in the women's 10k for fourth in program history. Â
- Tyler Kaan (3:52.38) and Lance Denhalter (3:57.72) both ran the 1500 for UCR in Palo Alto. Kaan was just two seconds off his collegiate best. Â
- Over at the Mike Fanelli Classic, Isatu N'Diaye finished 16th overall in the women's 1500 (4:30.84) and clocked a 2:13.69 in the 800. On the men's side of the 800, Lance Denhalter finished 14th overall with a 1:52.76.Â
NOTABLESÂ
- UCR collected three all-time top 10 marks on Friday. Â
- Castellon and Joshua Mendoza (30:14.27) both crushed their previous 10k collegiate bests. Â

UC Riverside will resume competition on Wednesday, April 16, kicking off a busy week at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays before later in the week taking on the Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational. Â
