NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Highlanders dropped the series finale to CSUN today 7-4. UCR battled and tried to make a comeback late, but it was too much to overcome.
The Highlanders sent
Joshua Martinez to the mound this afternoon to make his sixth start of the year. He threw three innings giving up four runs. He gave way to
Kurt Marton, who went 1.2 innings and surrendered a couple of runs.
Marco DiGirolamo followed pitching 0.2 innings and
Nolan Milliman went the final 2.2 innings. Milliman gave up no runs and scattered four hits.Â
Offensively, the Highlanders scored two in the top of the second to tie things up on sac-flies by
David Whittle and
Robert Pitts.Â
CSUN scored one in the second and one in the third to take a 4-2 lead.Â
UC Riverside scored in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch. That allowed
Jacob Badawi to score.Â
The Matadors scored three more runs and put the game out of reach. Whittle came up in the ninth and hit a homer, his third of the year.Â
Next up for UCR is Long Beach State this weekend. It will be the final home series of the year.Â
