RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Two new members of the UC Riverside women's tennis team is set to join the Highlanders this fall.
Susannah Su | Chatswood, Australia | West Virginia University
The sophomore comes to UCR from West Virginia University where she competed for the Mountaineers last season. She played in 14 singles' matches and eight doubles' matches. For her singles' matches she played on courts five and six and in the doubles' matches she played on court three. In five of her singles' matches Su had the lead before they went unfinished. Some of those opponents included top 25 schools Oklahoma State, Arizona and Texas Tech.
Prior to her time at West Virginia she prepped at Pymble Ladies College. During her time in Australia, Su earned an Australian junior ranking of No. 30 and her highest Australian women's ranking was No. 100. She made the All-Australian Team, won the Pizzey Cup, won the J4 Lautoka ITF Doubles and made the quarters in multiple ITF events. Her highest UTR was 8.97.
"Susannah is an outstanding player and we are very happy to have her," said UC Riverside's Director of Tennis Mattias Johansson. "She will have an immediate impact on our team."
Camile Li | Shandong, China | Shandong Normal University
Li comes to UC Riverside via Shandong, China. An accomplished player, Li made it to the J60 quarters in Singapore and made it to the semi-finals at the Pro-Series Pre-Qualifier at the University of San Diego. Li also placed second in the China National High School Finals. When asked why UCR? Li responded, "I really love the team atmosphere and the faculty level of professors!"
"Camile possesses a big game and has some big wins as of lately," Johansson said. "Will be very exciting to work with her and see how far she can develop as a player. Another great signing for UCR Women's Tennis."
