RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside welcomed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps today for a non-conference matchup. The Highlanders won in a thriller, 4-3.
Katarina Curcic came up big winning a three set marathon to clinch the fourth and final point for UCR.
How it happened:
- The Highlanders dropped the doubles point 2-1. Kei Kato and Ramey Yu won their doubles match, cruising to a 6-1 win.
- In singles competition Crystal Kim won her match 6-3, 6-3.
- Kei Kato won her match 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) to tie the match at 3.
- Curcic clinched the match for the Highlanders winning 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. She mounted a comeback down 5-4 in the third.
With the win the Highlanders improved to 1-1 on the year. Next up is San Jose State on Tuesday, January 20 at 11am.
