RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Coming off a win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Highlanders returned to action at the SRC Tennis Courts and hosted San Jose State. For the Spartans, this morning's match was their season opener. San Jose State took the match, 6-1.
How it happened:
- San Jose State won the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Ramey Yu and Kei Kato's doubles match went unfinished.
- In singles competition, Yu won the only match for the Highlanders defeating Duru Durgun in three sets: 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. That is her second straight singles victory.
- Katarina Curcic fought hard, but dropped a three set match to Camila Celis: 4-6, 6-3, 4-6.
- Crystal Kim forced a third set in her match, but fell: 2-6, 6-4, 4-6.
Up next is Long Beach State on January 30 at 11am. This will be the conference opener for the Highlanders.
