PALM DESERT, Calif. — The Highlanders faced one of its strongest fields of the season at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic, hosted by Long Beach State at Monterey Country Club.
Competing against six nationally ranked programs, including No. 2 Southern California, No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 11 UCLA, the Highlanders finished tied for 15th at 72-over-par for the 54-hole event.
UC Riverside closed the tournament with its best team showing of the week, improving by seven strokes from the second to the third round to post a 22-over final round.
Mitzi Duarte led the Highlanders with a tie for 41st at 12-over. Duarte capped her week with an even-par final round, showing poise on the closing day against a nationally competitive field.
Janna Andaya followed with a tie for 56th at 16-over, while Ivy Kim finished tied for 65th at 18-over. Maleyna Gregorio and Sophia Soto rounded out the Highlander lineup.
Southern California claimed the team title at 17-under, while USC's Catherine Park earned medalist honors at 11-under.
The Highlanders head to Sacramento next as they compete in the two round Causeway Invitational beginning Monday, February 23rd.
