Highlanders Drop Third Straight to CBU

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside and CBU met for a third time this season in the Crosstown Showdown. Coming into the game the Lancers held a 2-0 advantage in the season series and after today's game it is now a 3-0 series advantage. It was all Lancers in the 19-4 win at UCR.

CBU scored four in the first and did not look back. The Highlanders were able to get two back with a run in the second and third innings, but the Lancers answered. 

The big inning for CBU came in the seventh when they scored ten times off of three UCR pitchers. It was a combination of walks and singles mostly that led to the big inning. There was only one extra base hit in the frame.

In the bottom of fhe seventh the Highlanders were able to get two across on a home run by Hunter Backstrom. For the outfielder it was his first career homer as a Highlander. 

Up next for UC Riverside is a trip to Long Beach State to take on the Dirtbags. First pitch on Friday night is 6PM.
