LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Highlanders had their three game winning streak snapped tonight at LMU, 4-2.
Ryan Higgins got the start for the Highlanders and took the loss after going two innings giving up three hits and just one run. He gave way to Jayden Aviña who got a bit unlucky giving up two runs in his only inning pitched. The three hits he allowed did not leave the infield.Â
UC Riverside got on the board in the sixth inning when
Tyler Bolyard led things off with a single. A couple of batters later,
Robert Pitts' bunt single combined with a Lions' error put runners at second and third with just one out.
Lucas Bonham's sac-fly to center scored Bolyard and Pitts scored when
Jarren Sanderson reached on an error.Â
The Lions homered in the bottom of the sixth, which turned out to be a huge insurance run for LMU.
The Highlanders had chances in the eighth to tie the game, but could not come up with the clutch hit and their best opportunity to tie things up didn't happen.
UC Riverisde returns home for a three game set welcoming in Cal State Bakersfield. First pitch will be 2PM on Friday, April 24.Â
