Former UC Irvine standout Sarah Devine joined the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team as assistant coach in April, 2013, and works primarily with the defenders.
During her first year with the Highlanders, UC Riverside came within a goal of advancing to the NCAA Tournament, falling to Cal State Fullerton in the 2013 Big West Championship in penalty kicks. It was the Highlanders first trip to the conference tournament since 2005, as they finished in third place in the regular season and upended UC Irvine in the conference semifinals.
For an encore, in 2014, UC Riverside recorded the program's first winning season since the 2006 campaign, finishing 8-7-3. Tyler Cunningham broke the single-season assist mark (10), and she and Amber Marani became the first Highlanders to be named to the NSCAA Division I Women All-West Region Team since 2004, as the pair earned Second Team honors.
The 2015 campaign saw the Highlanders make their second trip to the conference tournament in three years, and win the second most matches in program history. They also tied the program record for Big West wins in a season.
Devine played in 68 matches for the Anteaters during her four-year career including 66 in her final three years. The San Diego, California native scored three goals and handed out four assists in her career, and earned All-Big West First Team accolades following her senior campaign.
Devine also played professionally for the San Diego SeaLions of the WPSL, captaining the 2013 squad while leading it to a national championship.
She recently earned her D coaching license, and is completing her masters in athletic administration this December from Concordia University.
