Chris Tamas

Chris Tamas joined the Highlander coaching staff in June of 2009 following a two-year stint as lead camp coach at Gold Medal Squared Volleyball.

After graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in sports sciences in 2003 from current Big West rival University of Pacific in Stockton, CA, Tamas became a professional athlete with USA Volleyball and represented the United States in 34 international matches.

He was selected as team captain by his peers in 2003 and was a flag bearer for the World University Games in Daegu, South Korea. Tamas also participated in the 1999 World Junior Championships in Havana, Cuba and has played and lived overseas in Holland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, and Finland.

Tamas capped off his four-year playing stint with the Tigers by earning All-America honors as a senior. Upon graduating from Pacific, he held the record for most career assists and ranked among the top-10 in five other career and single-season categories.

The Santa Barbara, CA native graduated from Laguna Blanca High School in a class of just 18 students. In his free time, Tamas enjoys reading, playing guitar, traveling, learning new languages and cultures, and playing sports.

Tamas is married to Jennifer Joines, a member of the USA Women's Indoor Volleyball Team that took the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
