Michael Terrill

Mike Terrill joined the UC Riverside Volleyball program as assistant coach on April 18, 2011 following coaching stops at San Diego State and Cal State Monterey Bay.

In his first year with the Highlanders, UCR tied the program's Division I record for most league wins in a season and defeated three-time national champion, Long Beach State, 3-2 on October 1, 2011. Terrill also works at the Pacific Juniors volleyball club as the recruiting coordinator and head coach of the 16s team.

Prior to UC Riverside, he was the assistant volleyball coach at San Diego State under Head Coach Deitre Collins-Parker.

While with the Aztecs, Terrill was responsible for training the outside hitters, practice planning, opponent scouting, technical operations, summer camp coordinator, and community outreach.

In 2010, he helped the Aztecs to a fifth place finish in the Mountain West Conference—their best finish since 2005. The recruiting class was also ranked 22nd in the nation by prepvolleyball.com.

In addition to his duties with the Aztecs, Terrill also coached the men’s club team at SDSU during 2011. His team went on to finish ninth in the country in the National Collegiate Volleyball Finals tournament.

Prior to his two years at San Diego State, Terrill was the assistant volleyball coach at Cal State Monterey Bay under Head Coach Jody Garry.

While with the Otters, Terrill trained the middle blockers and defensive specialists, developed alumni and booster support, and looked after the team’s academic progress.

Terrill received his bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology in 2006 from USC, where he was an outside hitter for the Men’s Volleyball program. He earned his master’s degree in kinesiology from San Diego State in 2011.

He prepped at Claremont High School, where he was a two-time All-Pacific League selection and was named league MVP in 2002.

Terrill is a member of the AVCA and has been a summer camp coach for Gold Medal Squared for three years. In his free time, Terrill enjoys playing sand volleyball, soccer, guitar, reading, watching the Lakers, and spending time with family.
