Riverside, CA - Four players scored in double-figures for the UC Riverside women's basketball team as they snapped their four-game losing skid with a 65-53 win against the Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon at the Student Recreation Center.

The Highlanders (3-7) jumped out of the gate strong by scoring nine straight before the Wildcats (5-4) could even get on the scoreboard. Arizona then put on a 12-5 run to get within two, 14-12, at the 12:18 mark before UCR battled back and opened up an 11-point lead, 27-16, on a Rivera layup with 9:11 remaining in the half.
The Highlanders would take a 42-30 lead into the locker room as they shot 53.6 percent from the field while holding the Wildcats to just 25.8 percent shooting.
UCR's 42 first-half points are the most they have scored in the first half all season and the most since a 44 first-half performance at Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 26, 2009.
In the second half, UC Riverside's lead grew to 16 points on four different occasions as Arizona could never get closer than nine points down the stretch, giving UCR the 65-53 victory.
For the game, the Highlanders out shot the Wildcats 44.6 percent to 27.6 percent. The 53 points scored by Arizona is also the lowest the Highlanders have allowed on the season.
UC Riverside breaks for the Christmas holiday before returning to the court at Montana State on Sunday, December 27 at 4:05 pm PST.
