Ryan Goetz Named Big West Conference Player of the Week

UC Riverside junior Ryan Goetz picked up his second career Big West Conference Player of the Week Award on Monday following a five-game performance that saw him hit .389 with five runs scored and seven RBIs in the Highlanders 4-1 week.
On Wednesday, UCR traveled to No. 10 UCLA, and the Temple City, CA native banged out two base hits in three at bats, scoring three runs and driving in a pair. He also picked up his first stolen base of the season in UCR's 11-1 win over the Bruins.
Against San Francisco on Friday evening, Goetz went three for six with a run scored and two ribbies while stealing his second base of the year in the Highlanders' 5-4 come-from-behind 13-inning win over the Dons. He followed that up with a one for three day in Saturday's 8-2 win over San Francisco, and in Sunday's finale against the Dons, Goetz turned on a 1-0 offering in the first crushing his first home run of the year to give the Highlanders a 3-0 lead in a game they would go on to win, 7-4.
For the week, Goetz posted an on base percentage of .500 and a .611 slugging percentage - all tops on the team. On the year, the Highlanders third baseman is hitting .300/.400/.433, and his eight RBIs on the season pace the squad.
