UCR Falls In Maggie Dixon Classic Championship Game To DePaul 91-47

Chicago, IL - The UC Riverside women's basketball team lost a 91-47 decision to the DePaul Blue Demons on Saturday evening in the championship game of the Maggie Dixon Classic at McGrath Arena.
UC Riverside's 3-2 start to the 2010-11 season ties the 2005-06 season as the best start in the Division I history of the program.
The Blue Demons (6-1), who are receiving votes in the national poll, outshot the Highlanders 49.2 percent to 31.0 percent, and led in nearly all statistical categories in the game.
UCR's Brittany Waddell and Tre'Shonti Nottingham were named to the 2010 Maggie Dixon Classic All-Tournament team. Waddell led the Highlanders with 9.5 points per game and Nottingham averaged 9.0 against Morgan State and DePaul.
The Blue Demons jumped out of the gate scoring 10 straight points within the first two and a half minutes before the Highlanders could get on board. A jumper by Natasha Hadley made it 12-2, but DePaul kept up the intensity and opened a 33-9 lead with 7:27 left in the half.
The teams traded buckets to conclude the period as DePaul entered the break leading 48-23.
The Blue Demons began the second half with a 7-0 spurt to lead 55-23 with three minutes gone by. UCR cut the lead below 30 on just a few occasions the remainder of the game as DePaul cruised to its 91-47 victory.
Nottingham led the Highlanders with 11 points while Hadley added seven. DePaul's Keisha Hampton led all players with 23 points.
The Highlanders return home to host Montana State on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center.
