Martin Named Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport Of The Month

Riverside—Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with the UC Riverside Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and chosen men's basketball player Phil Martin as the December recipient of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Martin, a transfer from N.E. Oklahoma, has emerged as the leading scorer for the men's basketball team, leading the squad with 15.7 points per game and 31.2 minutes per game in the Highlanders six games during the month of November.
The Staten Island, NY native is shooting 60.7 percent from the field including 40.0 percent from beyond the arc. At SMU on Nov. 20, Martin scored a career-high 29 points to lead UCR to its second win of the season, and a day later, he was named to the SMU Invitational All-Tournament Team for his efforts over the three-day event.
The men's basketball team returns to the court to host Texas-San Antonio on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center in Riverside.
