Tyquan Brown, BJ Shearry Sign NLIs To Play Basketball At UC Riverside

Riverside—UC Riverside Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Wooldridge announced today that Tyquan Brown and BJ Shearry have both signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) to play basketball at UC Riverside beginning in the 2010-11 season.
"Tyquan and BJ are both versatile players who can play multiple positions and will be key components of our rebuilt front line over the next two years," said Wooldridge. "Our focus continues to be on building a championship-caliber program here at UC Riverside, and both of these young men will help us considerably towards that goal."
Brown is a 6-7 junior college transfer who hails from The Bronx, New York. He played the past two seasons at Kaskaskia Community College in Illinois for Head Coach Brian Hancock. Last season he averaged 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds for the the Blue Devils and earned First Team All-Region 24 honors as well as being named the team's most valuable player and top rebounder. Brown played his high school basketball at Eagle Academy, where he earned New York State Sports Writers Association Third-Team All-State accolades.
Shearry most recently attended North Idaho College where he played for two years for Head Coach Jared Phay. The 6-7 forward averaged 10 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots per game a year ago and was named to the Second-Team All-Region 18. He also is a two year member of the North Idaho College honor roll. The Boise, Idaho native attended Timberline High School where he averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds per game as a senior, and was named All-State, MVP of the Idaho State All-Star Game, and was a perennial member of the school honor roll.
