Volleyball Falls In Three Sets At Pacific

Stockton, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team dropped its second straight Big West Conference match on Saturday evening falling in three sets to the Pacific Tigers 25-19, 25-16, and 25-20 at Alex G. Spanos Center.
Amanda Vialpando and Shelby LeDuff combined for 30 of the Highlanders (4-15, 1-4) 40 kills on the night while Vialpando also added a game-high 12 digs.
In the first set UCR took a 6-3 lead but saw the Tigers (12-7, 3-3) mount a 6-0 run to go up 9-6.
The Highlanders closed to within one point on six occasions, the last at 17-16, but could not get any closer as Pacific won 25-19.
Tied at 10 in the second set, Pacific went on an 8-1 run taking an 18-11 lead. UCR got to within five at 21-16, but was held without a point the rest of the set as the Tigers earned a 25-16 victory.
In the third set, the Highlanders again stayed close early on, but Pacific turned a 14-14 tie into a 18-14 advantage. UCR closed to within two, 18-16, after two consecutive LeDuff kills, but could not get closer as the Tigers concluded the sweep with a 25-20 win.
The Highlanders next return to action to host UC Irvine on Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center in Riverside.
