Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team returned home to the Student Recreation Center on Friday evening, losing a 3-0 match to the visiting Pacific Tigers in Big West Conference action.
Pacific (16-9, 7-5) made quick work of the Highlanders (5-20, 2-9) in set one, winning 25-14.
In the second set, the teams combined for 11 tie scores and seven lead changes with UCR taking a 15-14 lead midway through. However, the Tigers scored six consecutive en route to a 9-2 run to close out the match and win, 25-17.
Kills by UCR's Annishia McCoy and Amanda Vialpando gave the Highlanders a 5-3 lead early in the third set, but Pacific scored four straight to go up 7-5.
The teams traded points until the Tigers opened up the set taking an 18-12 advantage. UCR was limited to just three points the rest of the way as Pacific completed the sweep winning 25-15.
Shelby LeDuff paced the Highlanders offensively with 13 kills, tying for the game-high with Pacific's Megan Birch.
The Highlanders now host UC Davis on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30 pm at the Student Recreation Center.
