Riverside—Five players scored in double-figures Sunday for the UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team as the Highlanders cruised to a 71-43 victory over visiting Northern Arizona at the SRC Arena.

The Highlanders improve to 5-2 on the season, the best start in the program's Division I history. The 28-point victory is a season-high, and the 43 points scored by the Lumberjacks (1-7) is the lowest an opponent has scored since UC Davis scored 44 on March 11, 2011.

Natasha Hadley led UCR with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Kiara Harewood, Tre'Shonti Nottingham, and Brittany Crain each added 13 points, with Janelle Kearney completing the quintet of scorers with 10 points.

Raven Anderson had 18 points to lead NAU, while Amy Patton added a dozen.

It was a one-point game, 10-9, with 13:08 left in the first period before the Highlanders offense kicked into gear, otuscoring NAU 18-2 including 13 in a row to open a 28-11 advantage at the 7:04 mark. Hadley had seven points during the run while Harewood and Crain each added four.

Anderson's layup with 5:16 to go in the period ended UC Riverside's run, but the Highlanders traded buckets the rest of the half to take a 34-16 lead into the break.

UCR continued its hot hand to open the second half, going up by as much 30 points after a Harewood three-pointer at the 10:47 mark. NAU never got closer than 22 the rest of the way as the Highlanders secured the 71-43 victory.

For the game, UCR hit 41.9 percent of its shots while limiting the Lumberjacks to 25.8 percent, including just 6.7 percent from three-point range. The Highlanders also forced 17 turnovers and had 20 points off those miscues, while giving the ball away a season-low 13 times.

The Highlanders now conclude their four-game homestand on Friday, December 7 with a 7 pm PT contest against Idaho at the SRC Arena.
