Silas becomes the first member of the Highlanders to win one of the conference's weekly awards this season, and the fourth UC Riverside goalkeeper overall to earn the distinction joining Jessica White, Jessica Olafsen and Tawny Poggio.
The Upland, California native helped the Highlanders to a 2-0 start to conference play over the weekend with wins over Cal State Northridge (3-1) and Hawai'i (2-0). This marks the first time since 2005 that the Highlanders have won their first two Big West matches of the season, as well as the first time since 2005 that UCR has stood alone at the top of the conference standings.
The 5-6 netminder yielded just one goal and made 10 saves over the weekend, two against the Matadors and a season-high tying eight stops versus the Rainbow Wahine. She registered her second clean sheet of the year in the UH win.
Silas ranks in the top four in the Big West in goals against average (4th), save percentage (3rd) and saves (4th) on the season.
