Santa Barbara, CA - Fresh off its first conference victory of the season against Cal Poly on Friday evening, the UC Riverside Volleyball Team looked to make it two in a row against one of the top teams in the Big West, UC Santa Barbara, but the Gauchos earned the 3-0 sweep on Saturday evening by the scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-15 (Box Score).

The first set was close in the early going, and midway through was still a one-point game at 15-14. However, an 8-0 run by UCSB put the set out of reach, as the Gauchos went on for the 25-16 win.

In the second set, an early UC Santa Barbara run turned a 3-2 score into a 12-3 score, and the Highlanders could not recover from that rally in the 25-13 loss.

The third set saw a similar run by the Gauchos as they scored eight consecutive to go up by ten, 15-5, en route to their 25-15 victory.

Annishia McKoy tallied six kills to lead the Highlanders offense while Ali Spindt had 12 for UC Santa Barbara.

UC Riverside now returns home for its final matchup of the regular season taking on nationally ranked Hawai'i on Friday, November 29 at 7 pm PT at the SRC Arena. Prior to the match, the Highlanders will celebrate senior night by honoring two members of the Class of 2014: McKoy and Jessica Moncayo.
