Despite shooting 40 percent in the first half, UCR fell behind as the Flyers got out to a 19-10 lead following a three-point play from Cassie Sant at the 12:00 mark. The Highlanders then rallied scoring six of the next eight points to cut the margin to four, 21-16, after a Hadley layup with 9:24 to go in the half.
Within two minutes, though, Dayton countered with a 9-1 run to increase its margin to 30-17, and went into the half with a 49-29 advantage. The Flyers were 18-of-35 in the half for 51.4 percent shooting.
Dayton's lead reached 24 points early in the second half, but the Highlanders cut it to 15, 59-44, capped off by a Harewood jumper with 13:22 to play. That forced a Flyers timeout, but Dayton emerged from the break scoring eight straight points to push the lead back to 23.

Dayton continued its hot shooting with 51.5 pecent from the field for the game while limiting the Highlanders offense in the second half to 28.6 percent.
