Crain Scores 25 And Nottingham Adds 24, But Women's Hoops Falls At Pacific, 74-66

Box Score - Pacific 74, UC Riverside 66
Stockton, CA - Despite a career-high 25 points from Brittany Crain and 24 from Tre'Shonti Nottingham, the UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team lost a 74-66 decision to Pacific Saturday evening in Big West Conference action.
Crain hit 9-of-19 from the field and 7-of-7 from the foul line to lead all scorers, while Nottingham was 9-of-21 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Erica McKenzie had 15 points to lead the Tigers (21-6, 11-4).
The Highlanders (11-14, 4-10) trailed by as much as double-digits midway through the second half, 50-39, but made a 12-2 run to cut the lead to just one point, 52-51, with 10:07 to go. The teams traded buckets until the Tigers went back up by eight, 65-57, with just under six minutes remaining.
UCR would again cut the lead, this time to four points, 65-61, following two Janelle Kearney free throws at the 3:13 mark, and at 67-63 after two Nottingham free throws with 2:07 left.
Unfortunately, Pacific closed out the game scoring seven of the final 10 points to come away with the 74-66 victory.
In the first half, the Tigers opened with a 9-3 run, but the Highlanders tied the game at nine, and again at 11-11, before Pacific opened up a 10-point lead, 21-11, at the 11:07 mark. UC Riverside cut the lead to five on multiple occasions throughout the rest of the half, and entered the break down by six, 37-31.
For the game, the Highlanders shot 38.7 percent from the field while UOP connected on 40.3 percent from the floor.
Next up for UC Riverside is a Thursday, February 28 game against Cal Poly at 4 pm PT at the SRC Arena in Riverside.
