Andriese Named Big West & College Sports Madness Player Of The Week

Irvine, CA—The Big West Conference announced Monday morning that UC Riverside's David Andriese was honored as the conference's Player of the Week for games played March 25-31. College Sports Madness also named the junior outfielder as its baseball player of the week.
Andriese helped the Highlanders sweep #21 UC Irvine over the weekend—only the second-ever series sweep of the 'Eaters by UCR, and the first-ever 3-0 start to the Big West Conference season by the Highlanders.
UC Riverside has now won four in a row, and is a perfect 7-0 at home this season.
Andriese reached base all four times in UCR's 4-3 win over the Anteaters on Thursday (box score/recap/highlight video), drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh of a 7-5 victory on Friday (box score/recap/highlight video) and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth in Saturday's 3-2 win (box score/recap/highlight video).
For the week, the outfielder went 7-of-11 from the plate with three RBI, one run, and two walks.
Andriese now ranks in the top 10 in the conference in batting average (.375), on base percentage (.436) and slugging percentage (.525). The junior has improved his batting average by 102 points over his last nine games hitting .500 (18-36) over that span with five doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs.
