Box Score Davis, CA- The UC Riverside Women's Basketball team (10-7, 1-2) battled through a physical game against UC Davis (7-8, 2-1) Thursday evening, but came up just short, dropping a 70-61 decision to the Aggies.
Although the Highlanders converted 24 UC Davis turnovers into 23 points, and Brttany Crain topped the 30-point plateau for the sixth time this season with 34, the Highlanders were unable to make up a 34-29 first half deficit. With 4:51 left on the clock in the second half the Highlanders pulled to within two thanks to a short Crain jumper, but that was as close as they would get as Sydnee Fipps responded with a quick UC Davis three-pointer to stop the UCR charge.
Fipps, the third leading scorer in the Big West, led the Aggies with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Kelsey Harris, the conference leader in three-point percentage, added 16 points, draining four of eight from behind the arc.
UC Riverside welcomed back third-leading scorer, Annelise Ito, from injury. After missing four straight games, the junior finished as the team's second leading scorer on the night with 11 points.
The Highlanders remain on the road this week, heading to Hawai'i Saturday for a 7 pm PT tip against the Rainbow Wahine.
