Box Score Riverside- The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team continues its conference roll, improving its record to 5-3 after overtaking Cal State Fullerton Thursday night, 77-69.
In 40 minutes of play there was only one lead change. The Titans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead just over a minute into the game, but a good three-pointer by Michelle Curry tied the game in the blink of an eye. CSF scored a quick 3 more points until UCR stole the with 16:08 left in the first half on a fast break layup by Dynese Adams and wouldn't look back.
Four Highlanders scored in the double-digits in an overall team shooting percentage .435. Brittany Crain led the squad with 20 points adding another game to her double-digit scoring streak, now at 31. She made good on seven of 14 shots from the field and making six of her eight free-throw shots. Tonight was the first game Crain did not make a shot from behind the arc since the Highlanders played Iowa State Dec. 30, 2014.
Recording a double-double for the night and her third of the season, Annelise Ito pulled down a team-leading 12 rebounds and scored 14 points. Both Adams and Michelle Curry contributed 10 points for the night, combining for eight makes on 16 attempts.
The Highlanders improved on their .365 shooting percentage from the first half hitting 15 of the 28 attempts, contributing to their largest lead of the night of 15 points with 16 minutes left on the clock. A 6-0 run starting with 6 minutes left would bring CSF within four but that would be as close as the team would get as the Highlanders would pull away pushing the lead back to 10 and placing a stronghold on Cal State Fullerton.
The Titans were led by the second leading scorer in the conference, Chante Miles, with 20 points. Kathleen Iwuoha accompanied Ito, recording her own double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Rounding out the top scorers for CSF was Hailey King with 10 points.
