Box Score Riverside- The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team moves to 8-7 in the conference after a, 61-56 victory over UC Davis Thursday night in its last home game of the season. The Highlanders now sit in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big West with the Aggies and Long Beach State.
Conversion on turnovers was a key factor for the Highlanders in tonight's win. UC Riverside forced a total 22 turnovers, converting the Aggies' miscues into 16 points. The Highlanders gave up only eight for the night, and allowing UC Davis to score just six points off their turnovers.
UCR was led by Annelise Ito, who scored a game-high 24 points, draining 11-of-19 attempts from the floor. Ito also led the Highlanders by crashing the boards for eight rebounds.
Simone DeCoud was the only other Highlander to score in double-digits, adding 12 points, while handing out four assists and registering 3 steals. Brittany Crain, the fifth leading scorer in the nation, scored seven points after logging a 37-game streak of double-digit scoring.
Senior Dynese Adams contributed six points, six rebounds, and a game-high five assists in her final home game for the blue and gold.
The Highlanders also recognized senior Jamila Williams in their last home stand of the 2015 season. Jamila was forced to the bench the season with an injury but was given the call to start in her last game as a Highlander.
UC Riverside travels to Long Beach State Saturday, March 7 for its last regular-season game before the Big West Conference Tournament. Tip is slated for 4 pm PT.
