Phoenix, AZ—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team took the first set from Boise State, 25-19, Saturday afternoon, but dropped the final three to the Broncos to fall, 3-1, in the final match of the Grand Canyon Invitational.

The Highlanders (5-8) scored the first point of the match, and never trailed in the first set. Alexis Urbach and Helena Peric each recorded five kills in the first to lead the offensive charge.

UC Riverside recorded the first point of set number two, but the Broncos turned a 4-4 tie into a 12-6 advantage and cruised to a 25-12 victory.

In the third set, Boise State led 12-10, and scored eight straight points en route to a 2-1 lead. The Broncos closed out the match by scoring the first six points of the fourth, winning the set 25-13.

Urbach finished with 12 kills, while Peric added 11.

The Highlanders open Big West Conference play this week with a Friday, September 25 match against Cal State Fullerton beginning at 6 pm PT
