Volleyball Snags 3-0 Victory Over Grand Canyon

Portland - The UC Riverside Women's Volleyball Team improves to 3-2 on the season after topping Grand Canyon, 3-0 Friday evening. It was the first of three matches for the Highlanders at the Portland/Portland State Tournament.
After taking the first two sets, UCR kicked off the third set 5-0 before a kill by Katrice Pond put the 'Lopes on the board. A seven-point run point put the Highlanders up 17-7 midway through the final set with back-to-back errors by Grand Canyon sealing a 25-12 victory for UC Riverside.
Fabiana Rosas and Alexis Urbach led the blue and goal with 10 kills each, while Maddie Hubbell spearheaded the defensive charge, putting up 12 digs for the night.
The Highlanders are back in action Saturday, September 5 for their final two games of the tournament, taking on Nevada at 3 pm and Portland at 7 pm.
