Irvine, CA - The Big West today named UC Riverside defensive specialist Maddie Hubbell the Conference Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for games played August 31- September 6.

This is the first player of the week award for the junior who ranks at the top of the conference in digs (127) and digs per set (4.88). She is also the first Highlander to receive a weekly award since 2011.

The Bakersfield native, averaged 5.45 digs per set as UCR went 1-2 at the Portland/Portland State Tournament. She set a career-high 32 digs in a tough 3-2 loss to Nevada. She had 12 digs in a three-set win over Grand Canyon and added 16 in a loss to Portland.
