Irvine—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team fell in straight sets, 3-0, to UC Irvine Saturday night at the Bren Events Center.

The Highlanders were led by Brooke Callahan's nine kills on 14 swings and Cristina Maietta's eight kills and 11 digs.

UC Irvine jumped to a 2-0 match lead after claiming the first two sets 25-16 and 25-14 respectively. In the third and final set, UCR led at 19-15 and appeared to be on the way to extending the match.

The home team closed the margin at 23-21, before taking five of six points down the stretch to escape with a 26-24 third set victory, and closeout the match three sets to none.

Victoria Dennis had a match-high 14 kills to lead three Anteaters with double-digit kills. Maddie Hubbell tacked on 13 digs to add her UCR Volleyball program-best career total.

UC Riverside hosts Hawai'i in its lone match of the week on Friday October 28 at 8 pm PT live on ESPNU.
