Barrio, Maxwell Named Big West All-Conference

Amanda Roy Earns All-Freshman Team Accolades

Irvine, CA—The Big West announced today that UC Riverside Women's Soccer players Blanca Barrio and Hailey Maxwell were named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Teams, and Amanda Roy was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team.

Barrio (San Bernardino, CA) broke the program career assist mark from her midfield position this season, and led the team in 2016 with four, while finishing second on the squad in points (8). Both of her scores on the year were game-winners in identical 3-0 wins over Akron (box score/recap) and UC Santa Barbara (box score/recap). Barrio was named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from October 17-23 thanks in part to her efforts against the Gauchos (story).

Maxwell (Sacramento, CA) anchored a defense that posted a goals against average of 1.24—the second lowest goals against average for the program in the past seven years. The Highlanders' seven shutouts are also the most since the 2009 team recorded eight clean sheets. Maxwell added two goals on the season—both on headers in UC Riverside's shutout of UC Santa Barbara.

Roy (San Diego, CA) was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from October 17-23 as she led the Highlanders to a pair of shutout victories (story). The first score of her career was the game winner in a 1-0 win over Cal Poly (box score/recap).
