Bland, Johnson Earn All-Big West Accolades

Irvine, CA—The Big West announced today that UC Riverside's Jaylen Bland and Secean Johnson were named to the All-Conference Second Team and Honorable Mention Team respectively, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches.

Bland became the Highlanders single-season and career leader in made three pointers this season, and ranks fourth in the nation in made threes per game. He is among the top 10 in the conference in scoring (4th, 15.9), three-point field goal percentage (5th, .408), minutes per game (2nd, 33.8), free throw percentage (6th, .830) and steals (3rd, 47).

The senior guard, who one year ago was Named Big West New Comer of the Year and to the All-Conference Second Team, scored his 1,000th career point in the team's regular-season finale. Of those 1,000, 980 have come during his two years with the Highlanders.

Johnson, a junior guard, ranks 16th in the league in scoring, 12th in rebounding (5.8), 13th in steals (29). 12th in free throw percentage (.752) and second in made free throws (121).

The Highlanders are the six seed in this week's Big West Conference Basketball Tournament, taking on three seed Long Beach State on Thursday, March 10 at 8:30 pm PT at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
