Baseball Drops 4-0 Decision At Utah

Box Score Salt Lake City, UT—Utah starter Jayson Rose tossed eight innings of one-hit baseball Friday evening as the Utes shut out the Highlanders by a score of 4-0 in game one of their threee-game non-conference series.

UC Riverside (13-18) was the beneficiary of six walks on the night, but Vince Fernandez's fourth-inning single to left proved to be their lone base hit. Utah plated a single run in their half of the fourth, two more in the fifth and one run in the seventh to complete the scoring.

Highlanders starter Austin Sodders (3-3) allowed six hits in 5.2 innings and allowed three earned runs while Jared Morton was charged with the final Utah score.

The Highlanders and Utes play game two of their three-game series Saturday beginning at 6 pm PT.
