Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team picked up its first win of the 2016 season, Sunday evening, as senior Tayler Dragoo netted her second score of the year to give the Highlanders a 1-0 victory over visiting North Dakota State.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, but with just over 15 minutes gone in the second, the Bison (2-2-0) were whistled for a foul just outside their defensive 18 to the right side of the keeper. Dragoo took the free kick and bent it around the outstretched arms of NDSU goalie Monica Polgar for her team-leading second goal of the year.
Junior Alanna Guzman recorded five saves for the Highlanders (1-1-2), in picking up her second shutout of the season.
The Highlanders remain at home next week as they host Southern Utah on Friday, September 2 beginning at 7 pm PT.
