Irvine, CA—The Big West today announced that UC Riverside goalkeeper Alanna Guzman (Corona, CA) is the conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from September 12-18.

The junior recorded seven saves in a 3-0 blanking of Houston on Friday, for her third shutout of the season. On Sunday, Guzman kept No. 8 Texas A&M at bay for just over 60 minutes before the Aggies overcame a halftime deficit to hand the Highlanders a 2-1 defeat. Guzman made four more saves in the contest to give her 49 for the season, second-most in the Big West.
 
For the week, Guzman recorded a 1.00 GAA and an .846 save percentage.

The Highlanders return home this week for matches on Thursday against Seattle at 7 pm PT, and on Sunday against CSU Bakersfield at 6 pm.
