Volleyball Falls In Five Sets At Long Beach State

Long Beach, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (9-15, 1-11) led 2-1 at Long Beach State (8-19, 5-9), but the 49ers escaped with a 3-2 victory.
SET ONE (25-18, LBSU)
Key Runs:Â Tied at 13, the 49ers won five of the next six points and never trailed again.
SET TWO (25-15, UCR)
Key Runs: The 49ers tied the Highlanders at six, but the Highlanders won the next four straight points to take the lead once again. The Highlanders led by at least three points the remainder of the set.
SET THREE (25-22, UCR)
Key Runs: Up 16-14, the Highlanders won the next four straight points. The 49ers cut the Highlanders' lead to only two points at 22-20, but Brooke Callahan closed out the set with a couple kills.Â
SET FOUR (25-22, LBSU)
Key Runs: Trailing 19-12, the Highlanders won eight of the next eleven points, but never regained the lead.
SET FIVE (15-8, LBSU)
Key Runs: Tied at 3, the 49ers won four of the next five points and took a lead they would never relinquish.
GAME NOTES
Four of the Highlanders recorded double-digit kills— Sherman (14), Callahan (13), Graham (12), and Rosas (10).
Mickayla Sherman recorded her second kill-dig double-double of the season (14 kills, 10 digs). Sherman logged her first double-double of the season at UC Davis on November 4 (Recap).Â
Fabiana Rosas achieved her fifth kill-dig double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Meg Graham tied her season best with 12 kills. Graham logged 12 kills against Fairleigh Dickinson on August 25 during the Highlanders' first match of the season (Recap).
Chelsea Doyle charted her fourteenth assist-dig double-double of the season (39 assists, 10 digs).
Morgan Kline recorded 10 assists for her fourth double-digit assists of the season.
