2/18/2017 7:07:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Fullerton, CA–Lauren Holt scored 20 points, and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in recording her first career double-double in the Highlanders' 75-63 victory at Cal State Fullerton.
The junior transfer poured in 12 of her game-high total in the second half, and knocked down four of her eight attempts from long distance.
Michelle Curry continued her efficient scoring run by dropping 18 points, while handing out seven assists in 30 minutes of play before fouling out. Â
Simone DeCoud's 17 first half points led the UC Riverside scoring charge, helped establish a 33-27 halftime advantage.
The Highlanders took full control of the game in the third, when Curry went off for 11 points, and Malou De Kergret connected on a pair of triples to help the blue and gold outscore the Titans 26-15, and carry a 17-point lead into the fourth, 59-42.
In the final frame, Coach Margaritis emptied his bench as the Highlanders continued on to a 75-63 win at Titan Gym.
UCR held Cal State Fullerton to 33 percent shooting for the game, as well as from long distance. The Titans scored nearly a third of their points from the charity stripe, as they went 21-28 at the line Saturday afternoon.
Iman Lathan led three Fullerton players in double figures with 14 points in the loss. DeCoud would finish with 17 points to log her first double-digit scoring game in the last four contests.
UC Riverside was without the services of Réjane Vérin and Diamond Machabie, who were dismissed from the team for the remainder of the season due to a violation of team rules.
The team returns home to face Long Beach State Thursday, February 23 at 7 pm in the SRC Arena.
