Irvine, CA–This afternoon the Big West Conference announced that UC Riverside senior Cooper Bridge was named Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Bridge, a Seal Beach, CA native, posted four wins in singles to help the Highlanders to a 3-3 mark, and secure the team's second weekly award to go along with Kyle McCann's February recognition.
He won a trio of three-set matches in a busy week of action. He overcame a first-set loss to Bucknell's Daniel Wright to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 as UCR topped the Bison, 6-1.
He then outlasted Gonzaga's Ruadhan O'Sullivan, 6-4, 1-6, 10-4 in a narrow 4-3 defeat to the Bulldogs. On a road trip to the state of Arizona, Bridge knocked off Arizona Christian's Alberto Lapiedra, 7-5, 7-5, and outdueled Southern Utah's Conor Tordoff, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
Bridge also finished 2-4 at No. 2 doubles with three different partners. He is now 10-8 on the year in singles.
