Volleyball Falls 3-0 at UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (8-6, 0-2) led in all three sets Friday evening, but UC Santa Barbara (2-11, 1-0) rallied late in each to sweep the Highlanders, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-22.
SET ONE (25-21, UCSB)
Key Run: The Highlanders led 19-15 following a Tara Eaton service ace, but the Gauchos scored 10 of the last 12 points of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
SET TWO (25-17, UCSB)
Key Runs: UC Santa Barbara led 14-13, and took control of the set by scoring the next six points.
SET THREE (25-22, UCSB)
Key Runs: UC Riverside led 9-5, but the Gauchos scored nine of the next 13 points to take a 14-13 lead. The Highlanders regained the advantage, and were still up 19-17, but UC Santa Barbara closed out the set and the match thanks to an 8-3 run.

GAME NOTES
Prior to Friday night, the Highlanders had beaten the Gauchos three straight matches.
Mickayla Sherman recorded 10 or more kills for the third straight match, and the fourth time in her last five matches.

Chelsea Doyle was held to a season-low 17 assists on the night.
Morgan Kline had 13 assists in her first four matches of the season, but has 24 in her last two matches, including eight against UC Santa Barbara.
