Women's Cross Country Finishes 8th At Joe Piane Invite

South Bend, IN—In its third competitive meet of the season, the UC Riverside Women's Cross Country Team finished in eighth-place in the Women's 5k at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational with a team score of 232. Redshirt senior Faith Makau led the Highlanders with a time of 17:34.9 to take an 11th-place finish.

MEET NOTES
Makau finished first on her team for the third consecutive time to open the season, and for the fifth straight time dating back to last year. In 20 career meets, Makau has been the first Highlander to cross the finish line ten times.

After taking a 16h-place finish, redshirt senior Weslie Pearce has now finished in the top-20 in eight of her last 11 races.

Junior Emily Sanchez's 18th-place finish was tied for the second-best of her career. Three of her four career top-20 finishes have come this month.
