Lubbock, TX—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (6-2) saw its five-match winning streak come to an end Friday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision at Texas Tech. The Highlanders take on Lamar on Saturday at 9 am PT to close out the Red Raider Classic.
SET ONE (25-16, TEXAS TECH)
Key Run: The Highlanders trailed 10-9, but the Red Raiders scored seven of the next eight points to take control of the set.
SET TWO (25-19, TEXAS TECH)
Key Run: Neither team led by more than two points for most of the set, but with Texas Tech leading 19-18, the Red Raiders scored six of the final seven points to take the set.
SET THREE (25-16, TEXAS TECH)
Key Runs: The Red Raiders scored the first three points of the set, and never trailed.
GAME NOTES
The 6-2 start to the season trials only the 2001, 2004 and 2005 squads for best start in the Highlanders' 17-year Division I history. The 2001 UC Riverside squad began the season with seven wins in its first eight matches, and the 2004 team won eight of its first nine. The 2005 team began the year 11-1.
UC Riverside's five wins in a row was the team's longest such streak since the 2005 team won 10 straight.
Fabiana Rosas led the team with 12 kills. She has reached double figures in kills in three of her last four matches. She added 10 digs for her second kills-digs double-double of the season. It is her fifth game of double digit digs on the year.
