Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team (6-13, 3-2) closed out its three-game home stand Thursday night with its second-largest win of the season, 79-57 over Hawai'i (8-10, 1-4). Senior Lauren Holt led all scorers with 24 points to help give the Highlanders their third win in the last four games.

KEY RUNS
After trailing 6-0 to start, the Highlanders went on a 14-2 run to take a 14-8 lead. They would not trail the rest of the way.

Leading 29-25 with 3:03 left in first half, UCR would blow the game open with a 19-2 run that stretched into the third quarter, taking a 48-27 lead. The Highlanders stayed hot for the majority of the second half, shooting 54.8 percent (17-31 FG) and going a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range. GAME NOTES
Lauren Holt – who entered the game ranked fourth in the Big West in three-pointers – connected on a season-high 4-for-7 (.571) from deep. She also knocked down an efficient 10-of-16 (.625) overall from the field.

Holt has now scored 20 or more in back-to-back games for the second time in her career. She scored 25 points in her final game with Portland State on Mar. 7, 2015, following it up with 22 points in her UCR debut against San Diego State on Nov. 11, 2016. (box score/recap)

An efficient night offensively saw UC Riverside set new conference season-highs in both field goal (.478) and three-point percentage (.429).

Senior guard Michelle Curry put together yet another all-around performance, finishing as UCR's second-leading scorer with 15 points (6-12 FG) to go along with 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Curry has now scored 15 or more points in 13 of her 18 appearances this season.

Sophomore forward Skyler Lewis reached double-figures in scoring for the eighth time this season, going for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks on 5-of-9 (.555) shooting.

Sophomore Jannon Otto rounded out UC Riverside's double-digit scorers with 13 points (6-13 FG), 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Highlanders enjoyed a +15 rebounding margin (45 to 30), their best so far in Big West play. They have now out-rebounded their opponent in 4 of 5 Big West games.

UCR also dominated the battle in assists (18 to 10) and second chance points (24 to 8). Despite finishing the game with just one fewer turnover (10 to 11), the Highlanders more than doubled Hawaii in points off turnovers (17 to 8).

The 22-point margin of victory was two points shy of the Highlanders' largest win of the year, which came in a 77-53 thrashing of Long Beach State on January 6. (box score/recap).

UC Riverside will head back on the road this Saturday as they take on CSUN at 7:00 pm on ESPN3.
