Highlanders Rally Against Lions, 6-3

UC Riverside overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat Loyola Marymount 6-3 Tuesday afternoon at Page Stadium. The Highlanders improve to 7-4 and hand the Lions their sixth straight loss to fall to 2-9.
Trailing 3-1 in the sixth, sophomore C Jeff Dunbar started the rally by driving in junior LF D.J. Hollingsworth. The Highlanders then took the lead with a three-run seventh as sophomore SS Jaime Pedroza delivered an RBI double and then scored the go-ahead run on a single by junior CF Brett Bigler. After a sacrifice bunt, Bigler stole third, coming home on Dunbar's RBI single.
Dunbar added an RBI single in the ninth as the Highlanders tacked on an insurance run.
In his second game back after missing five games with a shoulder injury, Pedroza went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Pedroza fell a home run short of the cycle. Dunbar went 2-for-5 for his seventh multi-hit game of the year and drove in three. Bigler had two RBI.
LMU took an early 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the second. Pedroza led off the third with a triple and came home with the Highlanders' first run on Bigler's RBI groundout.
Sophomore RHP Adam Reifer (1-1) gained the win, pitching two innings of scoreless relief. Reifer gave up two hits and two walks. Junior RHP Taylor Bills picked up his first career save, striking out two in two innings. Starter junior LHP Marc Rzepczynski went five innings in the no-decision, allowing three runs on seven hits.
LMU used five pitchers, the third of which, Daniel Macias (0-4) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in 1/3 of an inning.
