Riverside—UC Riverside dropped a 2-1 decision to the UC Davis Aggies in a Big West Conference match-up Friday afternoon UCR Soccer Stadium. Sophomore Xavier Perez scored the goal for UCR whose record falls to 4-5-6 overall and 1-3-4 in the Big West.
The Highlanders were unable to break through a tough Aggie defense for most of the match. Perez took a pass from sophomore Scott Dailey and found the back of the net with 23 seconds left in the second half. That was the only time Aggie defense broke down on the day, limiting UCR to eight shots while firing 20 of their own.
The Aggies scored their first goal at 32:12 when Nicholas Lind fired a shot on UCR keeper Charles Alamo, unfortunately for the Highlanders the rebound found Davis' Quincy Amarikwa, who lobbed it over Alamo for the easy put back.
UCD took a 2-0 lead when Chris Leer's shot from seven yards out went right through the hands of Alamo in the 54th minute.
The Highlanders return to action November 7th when they host UC Irvine at UCR Soccer Stadium.
