UCR Volleyball Falls to UCI

The UC Riverside volleyball team (7-16, 2-6) began the second half of Big West Conference play on the road Saturday night by falling to UC Irvine 3-0.
UCR fell behind in sets one and two and could not recover as the Anteaters (10-11, 5-3) won both by identical 25-9 scores.In the third, the Highlanders got as close as six points at 14-9 but eventually fell 25-16.
Kelly Fink (San Dimas, CA) had a game-high 11 kills while Dominique Cowling (Benicia, CA) led UCR with a .231 attack percentage. Kimberly McNeal (Carson, CA) added a team-high eight digs and Brittany Murrey (El Cerrito, CA) posted 13 assists.
The Highlanders are back in action next weekend as they continue Big West play with road contests at Cal State Northridge on Friday, Oct. 31 and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Nov. 1. Both games are slated for 7:00 pm.
