Brittney Murrey Moves Up to Fourth Place in All-Time Career Assists
Brittney Murrey's 21 assists moved her up to fourth place all-time on the Highlander career assist list as the UC Riverside volleyball team (8-20, 3-10) lost 3-0 to #25 Long Beach State (23-4, 12-2) on Thursday night at the Walter Pyramid. Murrey (El Cerrito, CA) passed Laura Ratto '00 for fourth place and should pass Christi Karsten '93 by season's end.
In the first set the Highlanders held the lead at three different junctures within the first six points before the 49ers rallied to win set one 25-14. In the second, UCR was close early on and got within three at 16-13 but could get no closer as Long Beach won 25-18. Down 4-1 in the third UCR battled back to tie the game at 6-6 off four Highlander kills before the Beach again finished out the game 25-13.
Kelly Fink (San Dimas, CA) led UCR with 10 kills while Amy Read (Fresno, CA) hit a game-high .714 attack percentage.
UCR is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 as the Highlanders travel to Cal Poly for a 7:00 pm game.
