UC Riverside at Sacramento State Game Notes (PDF)
The Highlanders are looking to move above .500 for the first time this season as they travel northward for a 1:05 p.m. tipoff against Sacramento State on Saturday, Nov. 28.
A win over the Hornets would give the Highlanders a three-game winning streak—their longest since they took four in a row early in the 2008-09 campaign. It would also be UCR’s first road win of the year.
UC Riverside is coming off its most impressive win of the year—a 70-66 victory over San Jose State, who days prior had put a scare into No. 14 Washington before falling by 10. Kyle Austin posted his second consecutive 20+point, 10+rebound performance against the Spartans with 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.
The Hornets enter today’s game following a 75-1 loss at Idaho on Nov. 24. Sultan Toles-Bey and John Dickson lead a balanced Sac State offensive attack averaging 12.0 ad 11.0 points per game respectively.
UCR and Sacramento State have played against one another sporadically since the 1960-61 season including just four times since the Highlanders transition to Division I. The teams met last season at the Student Recreation Center, and UC Riverside came away with a 61-49 win as three members of the Highlanders socred in double figures led by Brandon Dowdy’s 14.
