UC Riverside vs. CSU Bakersfield Game Notes
Following Saturday’s buzzer beater at Sacramento State, UC Riverside finds itself riding a three-game winning streak heading into Wednesday evening’s 7 pm meeting against CSU Bakersfield. Larry Gurganious’ put-back with one second left provided the one-point margin of victory over the Hornets. It is the team’s 11th win against just one defeat in games decided by five points or less over the past two seasons.

UCR and the Roadrunners were long-time adversaries from 1973 through 2000 before the Highlanders made the move to Division I. The team’s renewed the rivalry in 2007 as CSUB is in the middle of its own transition to the Division I level.
The Roadrunners picked up a 71-53 win over UCR during the 2007 season, but the Highlanders exacted their revenge a year ago as Rudy Meo scored a career-high 19 points including the free throws that sealed the 64-63 win at Bakersfield.
CSUB is coming off of an 81-74 loss to Cal State Northridge on Monday evening. Trent Blakely leads four CSUB players averaging double figures in scoring with 16.8 points.
