Women's Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Win At Cal State Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA - Senior Erynne Oki (Valley Village, CA) won both of her matches at the No. 1 spots without losing a game (8-0 at doubles and 6-0, 6-0 at singles), as the UC Riverside women's tennis team (2-2) picked up a 5-2 win at Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon. Oki's doubles victory sets the career record for doubles wins with 48, passing the previous high of 47 set by Casey Cross.

UCR won all three doubles matches and followed that by taking four of the six singles sets. Angelique Corpuz (Chula Vista, CA) played with Oki at the No. 1 doubles spot and then defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles position. Ayana Simmons (San Jose, CA) also won her first match as a Highlander, posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the sixth singles spot.

The Highlanders return to the courts as they head to Las Vegas, NV to face off against Utah State on Friday, Feb. 20, Illinois State on Saturday, Feb. 21, and host UNLV on Sunday, Feb. 22.
